Engagement Photos on Whiteface Mountain

Updated: Feb 1, 2019

Where to begin? This is one of my favorite sessions ever, which is partly due to the fact that the view was INSANE. But the bigger reason why I loved this shoot was the couple that I was capturing.

Dan and Jennah met me at my cute little abode tucked away in the Adirondack Mountains so that we could drive an hour for photos at Whiteface Mountain. During our car ride I asked them to tell me their love story: how they met, when they started dating, and of course, how Dan proposed ( I love a good engagement story.) Even as I was listening to them tell their story, it was apparent to me that these two had so much love for each other. And not just the mushy Instagram kind of "love" that we so often associate with young people getting married. This was a genuine love that was so clearly rooted in their mutual love for Jesus.

Knowing a little bit about Dan and Jennah's love story before their session was really helpful for me to be able to capture who they really were as a couple. I'm all about taking pictures of amazing views and getting featured on blogs and whatnot, but what I really love (and strive for) is for a couple to tell me that I captured their love perfectly. I knew going into this session that this couple was goofy, adorable, and down for an adventure. I think that you can really get to know Dan and Jennah through these pictures without ever meeting them in person.

The moral of the story is this: If you're a photographer, get to know your clients well enough to capture who they are as a couple without the hidden, subconscious agendas that often come with being a photographer. And if you're a client, make sure you take the time to let your photographer get to know you a little - I promise you won't regret it!

Ironically after saying all that, this session has actually been featured on the Wandering Weddings blog! Click this link to check it out: https://wanderingweddings.com/blog/stunning-mountaintop-engagment-session-in-adirondacks-ny-jennah-dan/
